There’s no secret if this highest award for all musicians around the world is highly anticipated, as well as a barometer for the success of the work they produce in the past year. Then the question is, whether any work that successfully got the honor of being candidates for this Gramophone-shaped throphy is worth it? Sometimes The Recording Academys decision is reaping the pros and cons. For me there are several categories that I think other musicians more worthy to be nominated. for example in “Album Of The Year” category, i hope to see Rihanna’s latest album “ANTI” there. But anyway The Recording Academy has decided all the best works to be nominated for this most prestigious award. And such an honor for me (as an indonesian) when I know that Joey Alexander is one of the nominees (again) this year.
Now, i think there’s nothing wrong if I participated to choose the nominee that I think deserves to take Grammy trophy. Not all categories, only the category of music that I enjoy. And these are the predictions of kritikustik version:
* Will Win: predicted to win
* Should Win: who should win
Album Of The Year
Beyoncé – Lemonade
Drake – Views
Justin Bieber – Purpose
Sturgill Simpson – A Sailor’s Guide to Earth
Predikustik: this most prestigious category of grammys always managed to surprise, no one thought that Sturgill Simpson will be nominated instead all the albums that became favorite to be nominated before. Is another surprises will happen again at the awards night? When Sturgill Simpson took the grammy? Cause this kind of music has always been a favorite for the panel of The Recording Academy. But on the other hand there are two strongest woman in the music industry who’s also a nominee, and it’s impossible to pass up. Adele and Beyonce both have albums that are not only a commercial success, but also flooded with praise by music critics. commercially “25” is far superior than “Lemonade”, but we can’t deny that “Lemonade” is the best work that’s preferred by the critics. For the opportunities of “Purpose” and “Views” is not as big as the other three albums. But it’s possible if both can be crowned as album of the year. As I mentioned earlier there is always a surprise in this category.
Will Win : 25 – Adele
Should Win : Lemonade – Beyonce
Winner : 25 – Adele
Record of the Year
Beyoncé – Formation
Rihanna – Work
Twenty One Pilots – Stressed Out
Lukas Graham – 7 Years
Predikustik :
Record of the year is the category that created for recording songs with a level of success in various aspects. The highest sales, peak in the top position, played around the radio with a high intensity, praise by music critics, and unforgettable. All the nominee has the same chance to win this award. However, generally who wins this category is the song that has the highest sales.
Will win : Adele – Hello
Should win : Beyonce – Formation
Winner : Adele – Hello
Song of the Year
Beyoncé – Formation
Adele – Hello
Mike Posner – I Took a Pill in Ibiza
Justin Bieber – Love Yourself
Lukas Graham – 7 Years
Adele and Beyonce are definitely the most favorite nominees for Grammy this year, and it would be weird if the winner is not one of them. But if i had to choose between all nominees who deserve wins Song Of The Year, “Love Yourself” has the highest degree of perfection when compared to other nominees. don’t forget there’s a Grammy darling behind this song (read: Ed Sheeran). But again, it would be weird if Adele or Beyonce did not win.
Will Win : Adele – Hello
Should Win : Love Yourself – Justin Bieber
Winner : Adele – Hello
